Oscar is a friendly monster character I designed and created spot illustrations of.
Oscar enjoys fun activities and spending time outside, so I created spot illustrations of Oscar walking, baking, playing a board game, making a snowman, watering flowers, and reading under a tree. Oscar does everything with his best friend and pet, Luna, so I included Luna in all of the spot illustrations.
I created a turnaround of Oscar to show a full view of the character. I also created an expression sheet to show Oscar's different expressions ranging from happy to scared to disgusted.
I created my sketches with pencil and paper and then translated them to Photoshop to add color digitally.
I started my process with many thumbnails to create a variety of monsters. I experimented with using different eyes, legs, body shapes, fur, ears, horns, and wings. Then I took the best ones and developed them further.
