I illustrated the short sentence, "It was a brilliant idea." Hearing this sentence, I imagine a scene of kids building a fort, so I aimed to capture the exciting and cozy feeling of building a fort as a child.
I added my textures and patterns on top of the flat illustration I created my textures with traditional media and scanned them to use digitally in Photoshop. I incorporated graphic patterns into the blankets to make it look like a collage of blankets, which is essentially what a fort is.
I always start my process with traditional sketches and thumbnails to explore different ideas and compositions. I scanned my final sketch to start adding color digitally in Photoshop.
